Release notes

What changed in SetOptics each month.

Serve receive in the Visualizer: six players in a 5-1 formation wait for a serve, with the landing spot marked.

October 2026

This month adds serve receive and player names and colors to the Visualizer, and new video controls. Rally detection makes fewer errors, and video on iPhone plays smoothly.

New

  • Serve receive in the Visualizer
    • Set up a serve receive formation for each rotation of a 5-1 or 6-2.
    • An overlap fault shows in red before the serve.
    • Drag the serve target, then play the pass to the setter.
  • Name and color players in the Visualizer
    • In Serve receive and Offense, give a player a name and a color. They save to your account.
    • On a computer, drag the panel to the left, center or right.
  • Report a problem
    • On a video page, use Report a problem to tell us what went wrong. You can attach the moment in the video.
    • For ideas, use Send feedback in the profile menu.

Improvements

  • New video controls
    • The controls are now on the video. They hide while the video plays and show when you move the mouse or tap.
    • On a computer, set the volume or press M to mute.
  • More accurate rally detection
    • A new model finds indoor rallies with fewer errors. On 6 test games, errors went down from 16 to 9 across 258 rallies.
    • Nine-man games now use this model too.
  • Smooth playback on iPhone
    • The picture no longer freezes after a rally jump. Play starts again from the frame where you paused.
    • Turn the phone sideways and the video fills the screen.
  • The rally list scrolls to the rally that plays.
  • You can use the keyboard for uploads, the rally timeline and all dialogs.
  • A message shows when a video, the rally list or a rename does not load or save.
  • Ball flight in the Visualizer follows gravity for sets, passes, attacks and bounces.
  • The attack handle in the Visualizer marks the top of the ball's path.
  • Indoor Offense in the Visualizer opens on a 4 set.
  • Serve receive in the Visualizer opens with the panel closed, so the court shows first.
  • The set visualizer is now the Visualizer, at setoptics.com/visualizer. Old links still work.

Fixes

  • People who open a share link can play the video.
  • When you edit a rally, only the boundary that you change moves.
  • The download link for an export no longer stops working after 30 minutes.
  • A short Google error no longer disconnects your YouTube channel.
  • Delete account now deletes your account and all of your footage.
